Times
they are definitely a-changing … for libraries and for the vendors of
integrated library systems. Innovative is changing too – changing how we
do development to meet the requirements of today. Millennium and Encore
are well poised to support libraries as they move further and further into the
digital age – pulling books and DVD’s right along with them! Strong
partnerships with libraries are at the core of our new process.

Archiving Order Records in MS Access Franz
214
Kirsti Thomas,
Order
records cost money. What do you do when
you don't want to/can't afford to buy new order records but don't want to lose
the information in existing order records?
One small academic library developed a method of archiving data from the
order records in an MS Access relational database. This keeps the data accessible and
searchable, but clears up space for new order records in your local
system. The presentation will include an
overview of how relational databases are structured, a detailed explanation of
the steps needed to move data from III into Access, and hints on dealing with
problems that may crop up. The presentation is geared toward the individual who
is comfortable with technology, but doesn't necessarily have a programming or
systems background.
So You've Got the ERM Module, Now What? Franz
223
Diane Carroll,
This program
offers guidance in setting up and populating fields in Innovative's ERM module
with specific focus on the license record. What fields can you define and how
should you define them? How many ways are there to define archival access?
Diane Carroll of WSU and Wendy Stewart of PSU will offer their expertise and
help you get a grip on Electronic Resource Management in III.

Let’s Not Table This Load Franz 231
Michaela Brenner and Tom
Larsen,
This presentation is
intended for everybody in the library who is not sure what a load table is and
what it can do. We will give you examples and hopefully some new ideas to make
your or somebody else’s life easier, more exciting, more fun. Warning: Can be
addictive.

Introduction to Link Resolvers Franz
206
Doris Munson, Eastern
Link
resolvers allow the patron to go from an article citation in one vendor's
database to the full-text of the article in another vendor's database. This presentation demonstrates and explains
how link resolvers work. It also gives
examples of data problems that prevent link resolvers from working
correctly. The presenter uses WebBridge
but the principles apply to all link resolvers.
Google Analytics - What it can do for
you? Franz
214
Sara Amato,
This session
will provide an overview of using Google Analytics with the WebPac, including
setup and interpretation of resulting statistics. Come see it in action on two university
catalogs, and some of the surprises it revealed.
Developing an ERM Overview training
program: Helping selectors find the information Franz
223
they need about electronic resources
Hana Levay,
Do you frequently get asked questions
such as “How much did my fund pay for this resource last year?” and “Is this
resource available for course packs?” Now that you have Innovative’s ERM module
and filled it with information on electronic resources and license terms, you
would like the library staff to be able to use it to answer some of their
questions. This session will show how a team at the

Systems Forum Franz 026
Moderator: Sue Boggs,
Participatory
session for systems folks to share ideas, ask questions, and discuss issues of
interest. One
possible topic is creating a list of things to check after a server crash or
system upgrade. See http://innovativeusers.org/list/archives/2005/msg03118.html
for facilitator Sue Boggs' experience where this would have been handy.
WebBridge External Link Resolver
Basics Franz
206
Doris Munson, Eastern
This session
covers the basics of using WebBridge as an external link resolver. It will give an overview of terminology, how
the different parts of WebBridge work together, what the coverage database is
and how it works, and how to set up origin and resources definitions. This builds on what is covered in the
"Introduction to Link Resolvers" session.
Enhance your record display with
external tools and content Franz
214
Doug Eriksen,
Yahoo!, Google, OCLC and the Library
of Congress (among others) want your OPAC to be better looking, more useful and
more interesting. With a little JavaScript and a couple of custom wwwoptions
you can take advantage of published APIs, easily constructed URLs and the
surprising power of <!--{toplogo}--> and <!--{botlogo}--> to
enhance your record display pages in ways that will thrill your users and
librarians. Add links to formatted citations, title history, other editions,
search inside the book, cover images, one-click export to reference managers,
and connect to social networking tools.
Usage statistics and ERM Franz
223
Hana Levay,
With the
advent of the SUSHI protocol, it is now possible to easily integrate usage
statistics into ERM. We will look at how to implement SUSHI in III ERM to
automatically import usage data, what kinds of usage reports are generated
through ERM, and how cost per use is calculated within ERM. We will also
explore how usage statistics can be integrated into a collection assessment
database using Microsoft Access, including reports from ScholarlyStats and
Eigenfactor values.
Making Floating Collections Work Franz
231
John Goodyear & Jennifer Steward,
Multnomah County Library uses the
Millennium Floating Collections product to cut down on the time that material
spends in transit back to its owning location. We will discuss and
illustrate the process and the rationale for how and why we do this.

Advanced Create Lists - Getting More From A Great Tool
Bob Thomas,
There are a
lot more things you can do with Create Lists. In this session we'll look at
some advanced search techniques, including regular expressions; using Create
Lists with external tools like MarcEdit, Excel, and Connexion; and unusual
tasks like creating a review file for the items on a book truck or deleting
authority records you receive in a file.

WebBridge Strategies, Tips, and
Tricks Franz
206
Erik Still, The Boeing Company
Have you
already started your WebBridge implementation, but are concerned about keeping
organized, or are overwhelmed by all of the possibilities? The presenter will
share strategies and tips to help you stay organized and focused. Since
Millennium provides multiple mechanisms (MARC 856 field, ERM coverage data) for
displaying links, the presenter will provide guidelines for choosing WebBridge
to provide these links and also present his favorite tricks: making the
WebBridge button appear on your OPAC when the search result is "No Entries
Found"; exporting statistics to generate a graphical display that
indicates resource popularity; and more! For intermediate and advanced WebBridge users.
Crunching Circulation Statistics,
Spitting out Spending Priorities Franz
214
Kathleen Carlisle
Fountain,
In small
libraries, the value of its book collection is marked by its use. High use
equals high value. This session will describe how to undertake a “use factor
analysis” that measures circulation statistics against the size of the
collection. Attendees will learn how to use III circulation reports, create
lists, and SCAT tables to determine how intensely
their collection is used. The development of subsequent collection management
priorities to improve use statistics will be discussed. An initial study at WSU
Vancouver will offer lessons for study design.

Getting started with print templates Franz
223
Janet Crum & Carla
Pealer,
Print Templates, a new feature in
Release 2007, allow libraries to customize some printed materials generated
from Millennium, such as spine labels, purchase orders, and routing
lists. In this presentation, we will introduce print
templates and show you how to get started,
including configuring your system, doing simple customizations in iReports, and
using your templates to generate output.

Millennium Acquisitions
Doug Yancey,
Shortly
after migrating to Millennium in December 2004, Salem Public Library
implemented its acquisitions functionality, having previously used no formal
acquisitions system. This presentation
will provide new and/or prospective users with an overview of the challenges,
surprises and benefits which have characterized library acquisitions workflow
in that time. Users already well-versed
in the use of this product are encouraged to attend, offering their own
insights and experiences.
Using "Checker" to monitor Serials Solutions data Franz
223
Sue Boggs,
At the 2007 IUG conference, Lingnan
University Library presented their "Checker" program. It compares one
month's Serials Solutions "Data on Demand" list to another and alerts
staff to changes in title, ISSN, provider or coverage dates. UPS found the
program needed to be edited some to work at their site. The edited version will
be provided and discussed. Attendees may want to look up the 2007 presentation
at the IUG web site prior to the conference.
