Lists is a powerful tool in Millennium which allows you to compile custom lists
for many different purposes. Getting the most from the tool requires some
understanding of how the data is stored in the database. We'll look at the
different types of records, what data is stored where, and how to use Create
Lists to pull out exactly the information you need.

"Request Circles" is a
feature of the III software which allows libraries to --determine which
locations can have materials paged from them and delivered to them, --decide
which items and collections should be included in the paging/ delivery service,
and --decide which categories of patrons can participate in this delivery
service. This presentation describes
this feature and one library's experience with it.

Tweaking Reportster to Work at Your

At the 2004 IUG meeting Michele Morgan
of NOBLE gave a presentation on the Access report maker she developed called Reportster. It is
available at the IUG Clearinghouse for other libraries to use. Due to
variations in library setups it may need to be tweaked before you can use it at
your library. This program will point out some locations to check if it doesn't
work "out of the box" at your site. Focus is on this rather than the
actual uses of Reportster, although that will be
touched on as well.

With the passage of the Patriot Act
and its recent renewal, libraries have become more involved in assessing the
confidentiality of patron information within the library, particularly on ILS
systems. As part of this process, we are
working on assessing what information should be maintained and for how long on
III. This program will provide a brief
overview of the Patriot Act and how it applies to libraries and will give some
tips on protecting confidential patron information on the system.
Using MARC Holdings in Millennium Serials: Nuts and Bolts

OCLC is implementing MARC 21 Format for Holdings Data (MFHD), and many
libraries are following suit in their local environments. This workshop is
aimed at those considering converting current serial holdings data from free
text into the MARC Holdings format, or those simply wishing to establish a
foothold with MARC. Attendees will learn
the basics of the MFHD within Millennium Serials. Issues regarding how to undertake an
implementation, what challenges are involved in converting your local holdings
to the standard, and when and how to take advantage of OCLC’s
LDR Updating Service will also be discussed.
Link Resolvers: an Overview for

work correctly over 90% of the time.
However, when unexpected results occur, the patron turns to the
reference librarian for an explanation.
This session gives a brief overview of how link resolvers
work and the data problems and issues that can occur. The focus will be on WebBridge
but the principles apply to all link resolvers.
